About

MoniDose builds a two-patient medication dispenser that automates dose distribution in home care and assisted living. A pharmacy pre-packs the resident’s prescriptions into a dose-pouch roll covering two or four weeks, delivered through the existing dose-dispensing logistics; the device verifies the roll with optical sensors, keeps it locked, and releases each pouch only at its scheduled time. One unit serves two people — spouses, or two residents — on separate schedules, confirming who a dose belongs to before it is released. Reminders come as light, sound and speech in Finnish, Swedish or English, with a simplified large-text mode and night-time quiet hours. Every dose taken or missed is logged automatically and shared through role-specific apps for the resident, family member, nurse and pharmacy, with two-way video calling to family built into the device. It runs on its own mobile connection without home broadband and has battery backup for power cuts. The company, founded in 2024 in Akaa, is developing the device as an EU MDR 2017/745 Class I medical device — not yet registered — and designs it to free 2.5–3.5 hours of nursing time per day.
